Forest roots anchor rainfall into the earth, recharging rivers and aquifers. Deforestation causes droughts, floods, and the silting of dams across India.

They shelter millions of species

Over 80% of terrestrial biodiversity lives in forests. Every tree felled can cascade into the extinction of dozens of species that depended on it.
